Hello, after a great meeting last month to discuss collaborations on a whole raft of new projects, we\’ll be back to discussing one writer\’s work this afternoon – Mike\’s been working on a couple of outlines for his screenwriting course, and we can\’t wait to get critting!

Have you ever thought about writing your life story?
We\’ll help you plan, write, and organise a unique record of your life and times. Inspiring you to dig deep, capturing memories and writing about your life; the people and the places, the ordinary and the extraordinary − the things that happened which made you who you are.
Suitable for everyone and no previous experience of writing is required.
Tea and coffee will be available but please bring a packed lunch. Alternatively there are sandwich shops nearby but please note the Record Office is on a steep slope.

After a fantastic and inspirational workshop from Risaria Langley in September, we\’re gathering to talk story outlines this month, with our 150-word pitches at the ready!  We\’re looking to develop, write and critique these ideas into a clutch of fantastic short film scripts over the course of this year, ready to transform them into short films in 2014 – watch this space!

Lady of Letters shares her writing secrets! 9th November 2013, Mackworth

DSW member Chrissie will be teaching writers how to make their mark in the letters pages of magazines and periodicals in a one day course on Saturday 9th November at Mackworth Library – it\’s another way to flex your writing muscles and possibly get paid to do it!

Congratulations to DSW members Emma and Andrew, whose entries for Derby Museum\’s 1001 objects writing competition were both commended by the judges.

We\’re critting Andrew\’s short film script this Sunday in the education room at Derby Museum from 2-4pm.  It\’s an adaptation of one of his short stories, which has brings it\’s own challenges to the writing process – if you want to find out more, get in touch by emailing us at joinus@derbyshirescriptwriters.com , or just call in and say hello on the day – it would be fantastic to meet you!

DSW member Chrissie Hall now has a website (www.andthedoctorsaid.org) for her project with Keele University.  She\’s planning to host more of her very successful life story writing classes in July, and is looking for a venue – if you can recommend a great space in or around Derby to inspire budding writers, send us a message and we\’ll pass it on.
