As we’re getting ready for our festival of plays on Saturday 21st September 2024 at Derby Theatre, here’s a little bit about the two plays you can see at 2.30pm:
BROKEN RECORD by Andrew Kells
Broken Record is about British eccentricity, sibling jealousy and finding a way to honour the past without repeating it. There may or may not be a record broken on stage.
About Andrew:
Andrew’s first memory of writing was a poem about the life cycle of bees in junior school, and that it didn’t end well for the bees. Since then, he’s written short stories, training manuals, national radio advertising campaigns, stage and film scripts, and two novels, but leaves poetry to the professionals.
PARTY GAMES by Lynda Aylett-Green
“I often find the behaviour of politicians almost farcical when in fact what they are debating is of national importance and affects all of us – how do they manage to get elected? Party Games shows a local constituency office trying to select a candidate for an election and given the problems confronting politicians today not many people would want the job. In this satirical sketch the candidate who comes forward is outrageously unsuitable … but she is the only one and she brings a large contribution to party funds, so what should they do?”
